Duke Energy Receives Regulators' Approval To Construct New Natural Gas Generation In Anderson County

Duke Energy has received approval from the Public Service Commission of South Carolina to construct a new natural gas generation facility in Anderson County. The project is expected to create over 2,200 jobs annually during construction and contribute $84 million annually to the state's economy once operational. The facility will have a capacity of approximately 1,365 MW and is designed to be one of the most efficient natural gas plants in Duke Energy's system, utilizing advanced environmental control technologies. Construction is set to begin in summer 2027, with the facility expected to be operational by early 2031.
