Editas Medicine has received approval to initiate its Phase 1/2 Strive clinical trial of EDIT-401 for patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in Australia, having completed the necessary regulatory processes. The trial is also under review in New Zealand, which could allow patient enrollment in both countries. EDIT-401 is an experimental gene editing treatment that has shown a mean reduction of approximately 90% in LDL-C levels in preclinical studies, with further data set to be presented at the AHA Scientific Sessions in November 2026.
