Donald Trump Discloses Buying a Small Cap Defense Stock in June: 58% Gains, Government Contracts Follow

When it comes to small-cap defense stocks, Everforth (NYSE:EFOR) is likely among the companies most investors have never heard of. Whether President Donald Trump has ever heard of the stock, it’s likely in his investment portfolio today. • Everforth stock is showing notable weakness. What’s pressuring EFOR stock? Trump Bought Everforth Stock Among the more than 20,000 stock trades made over the last 12 months by President Donald Trump are Everforth shares. The president disclosed buying $15,000 to $50,000 in EFOR shares on June 4, according to data from Quiver Quantitative. Part of that initial purchase was likely sold on July 8, with a sale valued at $1,000 to $15,000. Several months after Trump disclosed buying the stock, Everforth has landed several government contracts. "$EFOR. You probably haven’t heard of it before. Market cap of just $1B. In July, Everforth announced a new $115M US Army contract. The stock skyrocketed," Quiver Quantitative tweeted. A look at the investor relations page for Everforth shows the following contract wins since June: July 28: $115 million AI Research & Engineering contract support U.S. Army Aug. 11: $30 million Defense Health Agency (Department of Defense unit) contract for Health IT modernization Sept. 24: $148 million SUNet (Department of Defense unit) contract extension Those contracts have helped lift the share price of Everforth. The stock traded as high as $21.59 on June 4 when Trump made his first purchase this year. Shares now trade at $34.06 and are up 57.8% as of today. He also said he does not communicate with those who manage his money. "I don’t get involved in my personal — we have funds that run my money," Trump told reporters when questioned about his investments earlier this year, according to CNBC. The White House previously said that it is third-party management of his accounts, leaving no conflicts of interest. "All of the President’s assets are held in fully discretionary accounts managed by independent third-party financial institutions. There are no conflicts of interest," White House Principal Deputy Secretary Anna Kelly previously told Benzinga. Everforth has a whole government contracts business segment that regularly wins awards, which means that while there were three deals announced after Trump’s purchase, he may not have known about the upcoming awards or his financial manager may not have known, either. Investing in a company that gets government contracts will likely be viewed as a conflict of interest to some, but there’s no proof that it is and Trump is currently legally allowed to buy and sell stocks as long as he discloses the trades.
