GlobalFoundries (Nasdaq: GFS) has been selected as the technology provider and operator for two new semiconductor manufacturing facilities at its Malta, New York site, under a U.S.-Japan initiative that could provide up to $21 billion in funding. This initiative aims to enhance semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S., strengthen supply chains, and meet rising demand in sectors such as automotive and industrial. Japan will supply the investment, while GlobalFoundries will leverage its technology and operational expertise.
