HSBC Launches RedCoin Stablecoin on PayMe App

HSBC has launched RedCoin, a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, on its PayMe app, enabling transactions at over 100,000 merchants. The token, ticker RCHKD, is fully backed by high-quality liquid assets. HSBC plans to enhance the stablecoin's functionality by integrating it into its main Hong Kong mobile banking app and allowing its use for tokenized investment products later this year, with intentions to extend its applications to corporate and institutional clients.
