MDA Space Receives Authorization to Proceed from Thales Alenia Space for IRIS² Satellite Program

MDA Space received an authorization to proceed from Thales Alenia Space, valued at more than $100 million, to begin work on digital antenna subsystems for 66 satellites in the IRIS² program. The authorization is expected to be added to MDA Space’s order backlog in the fourth quarter of 2026, though the definitive contract has not yet been finalized. IRIS² targets a 2029 launch and supports MDA Space’s strategy to supply phased-array antenna technology for secure connectivity.
