Roche Discontinues Development of RG6540 CAR-T Therapy

Roche has discontinued the development of RG6540, an off-the-shelf CAR-T therapy targeting CD19 and CD20, as part of a strategic review of its early-stage pipeline. This asset was acquired through Roche's $1.5 billion acquisition of Poseida Therapeutics. Despite this halt, CEO Thomas Schinecker stated that Roche remains committed to the Poseida platform and is advancing other CAR-T candidates. The decision aligns with a broader industry reassessment of the viability of allogeneic CAR-T programs.
