Viking Therapeutics has launched the SUNRISE Phase 3 clinical program for its oral VK2735, a dual agonist targeting GLP-1 and GIP receptors, aimed at treating metabolic disorders like obesity. The program consists of two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies, SUNRISE-1 and SUNRISE-2, each enrolling 560 adults over 68 weeks to assess the drug's efficacy and safety. The primary endpoint is the percent change in body weight from baseline, with various secondary endpoints evaluating additional weight reduction metrics.
